A little bit of history
Today, we received this lovely image and note from Rev Jane Henderson, whose mother was a former teacher at Busill Jones.
Dear Mrs Field,
My Mom was a former teacher at Busill Jones back in the 1960s and I started in reception there in 1969 before moving on with Mom to Bentley Drive.
I sadly lost Mom 4 weeks ago, aged 81, to Covid-19 and I’ve been going through old photos.
I came across the attached which was taken I think in 1967. My Mom, June Millington was on the back far right. The headteacher was Rylan Wilcox who I remember was a lovely man and Mom thought was a great headteacher. I think the woman with the long hair next to my Mom was my reception teacher, Miss Parr, but I couldn’t be sure.
My Mom retired in 1997 as headteacher of Victoria Infants in Tipton after managing the building of a new school and its transition from Park Lane infants to Victoria.
Busill Jones was her first teaching post after having me in 1965. She trained as a secondary teacher and previously worked at Croft St and Rough Hay.
