Early Years Foundation Stage

Welcome to the Early Years at Busill Jones, where exploring your curiosity is a must!

We have just a had an amazing new play area purpose built just for our children. Check out the photos here.

At Busill Jones, we follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. We are an inclusive school and want all our children to be able to learn and develop to become the best they can be.

The foundation stage includes all our children attending school in Nursery and Reception. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the standards set for the learning and development of all children under 5. Your child's first five years has been divided up into six age bands which overlap. This is because every child is different and children do not grow and develop at the same rate. It highlights what you might notice your child doing at these points.

Learning through play is an essential part of the development of the Early Years child and we use our outdoor space as well as the classroom to allow children to explore their curiosity to provide a well-rounded learning experience.

The 7 areas of learning are:

Welcome to our Early Years 2021-2022!

We are delighted that you have chosen Busill Jones Primary School for your child and on behalf of staff, governors and children we would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family.

During these extraordinary times we have needed to amend our process of admissions and will do everything we can to ensure your child’s transition into Busill Jones Primary is as smooth as possible. The Coronavirus crisis is likely to affect our usual transition process and we would like to reassure you that we shall do our uppermost to ensure you and your child receive the best transition opportunities we have to offer.

We will be sending out Registration packs to the parents/carers of pupils who have been offered a place at our school in Nursery or Reception class from September 2020.

Please take your time to read the welcome letter and the other documents included (a copy of each document is available below should you need further copies).

There is a lot of information for you to look at and take it in preparation for your child’s next steps into full time school. Please take your time and if you need any help with the forms or anything explained please contact us here at the school, we are here to help.

We will be arranging visits to the school and hopefully a transition morning if at all possible in June, once we know what the next steps are under the current lock down situation.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

We are becoming an early adopter school, and from this year, we will be using the new early learning goals to assess children at the end of their reception year.  New guidance to support learning over the reception year has been released alongside these new early learning goals, this is called Development Matters.
